Habitat: Wet marly sand of open sunny shore of causeway, with slightly depauperate flora of pioneering sedges & grasses, incl. Scirpus validus, S. fluviatilis, Echinochloa muricata (aspect dominant), Leersia oryzoides, Polygonum lapathifolium, Verbena hastata, Bidens cernua, Lemna minor, & L. trisulca. On wet muddy sand & in water to 2 cm deep, growing right with Cyperus odoratus & Panicum capillare. Bases of culms slightly bulbous but plants annual. Culms cespitose in clumps 1-10.
