Habitat: Edge of 2-track sandy lane through Quercus velutina savanna, lower edge of S-facing sandy slope; in semishade. Assoc.: Achillea millefolium ssp. lanulosa, Plantago rugelii, Poa pratensis, Rhus glabra, Rubus occidentalis, Rumex acetosella, Tradescantia ohiensis, Quercus velutina seedlings. Bromus inermis is rare here but abundant higher up on the edges of the prairie knolls.
