Habitat:
Dry-mesic upland hardwood forest, in an area with Quercus borealis dominant and Carya ovata and Populus grandidentata subdominant, this a second-growth area at bottom of dry SE-facing slope. Assoc.: Parthenocissus inserta, Osmorhiza claytonii, Rubus cf. alleghaniensis, and Quercus borealis saplings.
