Habitat:
Between wet mucky peat in bottom of shallow artificial roadside ditch, at this season drying up. Associated with Eleocharis acicularis and surrounded by wet, completely open Cyperacaeae-Sphagnum meadow. With slenderer, greener stems and thinner spikelets, separated by more than several yards from the typical form.
