Habitat:
Growing on muck and marl in 12 inches of water. With Brasenia schreberi, Nymphaea, Chara, another Eleocharis (Alverson 1547), and a Potamogeton (Alverson 1546). Two colonies seen along N shore of lake, just out beyond Scirpus (S. subterminalis?) beds; one colony 7 by 10 meters in size, the other 7 by 14, together totaling ca. 1000-1500 culms, with perhaps 5-10 culms per plant. Just finishing flowering period.
