Habitat:
In moist sand up on shore to water to 4" deep, open bed along shore of flowage. Very thin peaty humus atop moist sand, sloping base of flowage dike; very open and sunny, with no particular plant dominant and no tussock-forming Carices. Assoc.: Onoclea sensibilis, Thelypteris palustris, Typha latifolia, Agrostis scabra, Calamagrostis canadensis, Phalaris arundinacea. With Bidens cernua, Eleocharis erythropoda, E. acicularis, Echinochloa walteri, Eupatorium perfoliatum. Achenes 2.0-2.5 x 1.5-1.7 mm; bristles 4, about equalling achenes; styles 2-fid.
