Habitat: In semi-shade, edge of woods on base of rocks. Large granite outcrop; Acer rubrum-Populus tremuloides woodland with Quercus ellipsoidalis, Pinus strobus, P. banksiana, Betula papyrifera on open rough rocky ground. Additional information for Cochrane et al. 6552-6555: On lowest edge of rocks & or inrelatively richer woods: Pteridium aquilinum, Polypodium virginianum, Maianthemum canadense, Carex intumescens, Carex lucorum (abundant), Trientalis borealis, Diervilla lonicera, Prunus serotina, Vaccinium angustifolium, Coptis groenlandica, Lycopodium obscurum, Clinopodium vulgare. In semi-sahe to full sun atop outcrop: Stereocaulon paschale, Cladonia mitis, C. uncialis, Selaginella rupestris, Danthonia spicata, Poa compressa, Rumex acetosella, Carex aenea, C. deflexa, Heuchera richardsonii, Potentilla simplex. 3 medium-sized, loose clumps.
