Rich low deciduous woods (Acer saccharum-Tilia americana ass'n, with Quercus alba (large old trees), Fraxinus americana, Ulmus rubra, Ostrya virginiana, Carpinus caroliniana) on first terrace of river; dark-colored silt loam soil. Adjacent river-edge forest, seasonally inundated. Assoc. species for Cochrane, et al. 10077-10078: Carex grayi, C. amphibola var. turgida, Smilax ecirrata, Arabis laevigata, Laportea canadensis, Geranium maculatum, Lysimachia ciliata, and Rudbeckia laciniata.
