Habitat: Broad, damp & grassy, weedy roadside ditch adjacent Alnus-Salix swamp, with sedges and rushes confined to a central zone (ca. 300ft. long & 18ft. wide) where the soil is moist & probably occasionally flooded. Assoc. include numerous sedges, grasses & weeds typical of sandy roadsides in the region. Assoc. species for Cochrane & Cochrane 9398-9401, 9415: Equisetum arvense, Anthoxanthum odoratum, Festuca pratensis, Carex gracillima, C. pallescens, C. granularis var. heleana, C. scoparia, Scirpus atrovirens, S. cyperinus, Juncus articulatus, J. effusus, Luzula multiflora, Salix discolor seedlings, Ranunculus acris, Oenothera perennis, Prunella vulgaris, Plantago lanceolata, Aster ciliolatus, Hieracium aurantiacum, Solidago canadensis, S. graminifolia. Cespitose.
