Habitat: Shaded top of a castle with Dermatocarpon miniatum. Top of a very narrow ridge with a series of calcareous capped sandstone castles and pinnacles. Surrounding woods young, grazed, with Acer saccharum and E-facing slope and Juglans cinerea, Celtis occidentalis on W-facing slope. Scattered large Pinus strobus, and some Tsuga canadensis on the cooler NE-facing slope.
