Mostly on Carex hummocks in water close to shore with Calla palustris & Decodon verticillatus. Additional assoc. for Cochrane & Cochrane 7243-7249: Dryopteris cristata, Thelypteris palustris, Sagittaria sp., Agrostis scabra, Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex comosa, C. stricta, C. diandra, Eleocharis acicularis, Scirpus cyperinus, Alnus incana ssp. rugosa, Polygonum natans, Rumex verticillatus, Potentilla palustris, Impatiens capensis, Triadenum fraseri, Epilobium sp., Cicuta bulbifera, Lycopus uniflorus, Scutellaria galericulata, S. lateriflora, Galium trifidum, Campanula aparainoides. Forming smaller tussocks than C. stricta.
