N-facing yellow birch-white pine (latter now nothing but stumps) "relict;" very steep mossy sandy slope of massive (otherwise mostly W-facing) long Cambrian sandstone cliff. Growing in small colony of Osmunda claytoniana. Additional field notes for 5638: Assoc.: Lycopodium selago, L. obscurum, L. lucidulum, Equisetum scirpiodes, Dryopteris disjuncta, Adiantum pedatum, Polygonatum pubescens, Maianthemum canadense, Goodyera pubescens, Maianthemum canadense, Pyrola elliptica, Gaultheria procumbens, Mitchella repens, Trientalis borealis. Plant light grass-green, the culms trailing on the ground.
