Habitat: Northern mesic forest (Acer saccharum dominant, with A. spicatum, Tilia americana, Ostrya virginiana, Ulmus americana) along hiking trail. Habitat data for Cochrane & Cochrane 11576-11579: Woods of stunted trees on very summit of dome at small lookout opening; associates Ostrya virginiana, Prunus virginiana, Fraxinus pennsylvanica var. subintgerrima saplings, Dryopteris intermedia, Milium effusum var. cisatlantica, Carex deweyana, & Osmorhaiza claytonii. On clump of 44 flowering culms.
