Field, long fallow (former lowland prairie, plowed once about 15 years ago, never planted); deep, moist, poorly drained clayey soil of the Montgomery series. Assoc.: Asclepias syriaca, Geum aleppicum, Elymus virginicus, Elytrigia repens, Melilotus alba, Poa pratensis, Thalictrum dasycarpum. N one-third of tract, a buffer zone contiguous with (and once part of) the prairie. One clump of 15 culms collected. (MICH-culm IV, 3 shts; MIL-V, 2; PROVO-VI, 2; TAES-I, 3; US-III, 3; WIS-II, 3.).
