Habitat: Very open grassy area (degraded dry prairie) near the top of a SW-facing, crumbling sandstone slope, at the edge of a quarry; Poa compressa-dominant, with Antennaria neodioica, Schizachyrium scoparium, little else. The prairie below is of better quality, having Amorpha canescens, Antennaria neglecta, A. parlinii, Aster oolentangiensis, Carex pensylvanica, C. umbellata, Juniperus communis, Schizachyrium scoparium, and Solidago nemoralis.
