Habitat: Sandy banks & edges of firelane in dry jackpine forest (Pinus banksiana dominant with Populus grandidentata, Quercus borealis, & Acer rubrum saplings). Assoc. species for Cochrane & Cochrane 9163-9165: Pteridium aquilinum var. latiusculum, Danthonia spicata, Carex brunnescens, C. crawfordii, C. debilis ssp. rudgei, Comptonia peregrina, Aster ciliolatus, Betula papyrifera seedlings; in semishade.
