Habitat: Found in 1 sq-m plot with Zanthoxylum americanum, Galium concinuum, Eupatorium rugosum, Aster drummondii, Parthenocissus, Circaea lutetiana, Geum canadense, Carya cordiformis, Ribes missouriense. Under Celtis occidentalis; other canopy trees include Juglans nigra, Ulmus rubra, Quercus rubra, Prunus serotina, Tilia americana. Growing near edge of woods on upland plateau. Common in brushy woods, other assoc: Galearis spectabilis, Eupatorium purpureum, Campanula americana.
