Habitat:
Thin Quercus velutina woodland on crumbling sandstone slope, upper half of N side of bluff, with Pinus resinosa (a few individuals), Hamamelis virginiana, Pteridium aquilinum, Oryzopsis pungens, Carex pensylvanica (ground layer dominant), C. umbellata, C. aenea, Comptonia peregrina, Lysimachia quadrifolia, Aralia hispida, Vaccinium angustifolium. Rare here but frequent on S side.
