Habitat:
Northern mesic forest on undulating pockmarked ground along side of river. Acer saccharum dominant, with ample Betula papyrifera, some Tsuga canadensis, very little Pinus strobus. Understory depauperate, but some associates are present: Oryzopsis asperifolia, Carex pedunculata, Clintonia borealis, Actaea rubra, Dirca palustris, Pyrola elliptica, and Diervilla lonicera.
