Low bank just above pebble-sand strand, in semi-shade of white birch--balsam fir forest; loose deep sand. Assoc.: Danthonia spicata, Elymus canadensis, Festuca rubra, Deschampia flexuosa, Agropyron trachycaulum, A. repens, Poa pratensis, P. comressa, Carex adusta, C. aenea, C. houghtoniana, Rumex acetoseela, Arabis divaricarpa, Oenothera parviflora, Fragaria virginiana, Solidago canadensis. Very local. Stems/cump = 6, 8, 12, 22, 28.
