With Cornus rugosa, Sambucus racemosa, Solanum dulcamara, Erigeron annuus, Bidens frondosa, Arisaema triphyllum, Geum canadense, Sanguinaria canadensis, Rubus idaeus. [Immature, depauperate - Sheaths loose and angular as in C. tribuloides, but leaves narrow; tight inflorescences and pistillate scales OK for C. tribuloides. - P.E. Rothrock, 2010]
