East facing ridge above swamp. Forest of beech, sugar maple and oaks. Recently logged. In plot 10 under Tilia americana. In plot 10. With Cornus rugosa, Sambucus racemosa, Solanum dulcamara, Erigeron annuus, Bidens frondosa, Arisaema triphyllum, Geum canadense, Sanguinaria canadensis, Rubus idaeus. [Immature, depauperate - Sheaths loose and angular as in C. tribuloides, but leaves narrow; tight inflorescences and pistillate scales OK for C. tribuloides. - P.E. Rothrock, 2010]
