Habitat: Brushy narrow sandy strip a few meters wide along base of W-facing cliffs, a few m. above level of adjacent marsh. Quercus bicolor, Ilex verticillata, Populus tremuloides, Quercus macrocarpa, Rhus typhina, Acer negundo. At marshy base of cliff but grazed and less sandy, with Fraxinus pensylvanica, Symplocarpus foetidus. Large tree with several leaning trunks from base.
