Habitat:
wet prairie, dominated by Calamagrostis canadensis (most abundant), Andropogon gerardii (somewhat less abundant), Spartina pectinata (least abundant of the big grasses), also Poa palustris, Elymus virginicus, Muhlenbergia mexicana. Never grazed or plowed but last year dried up in the drought and accidentaly burned. Assco.: Carex tenera, Scirpus atrovirens, Populus tremuloides, Salix discolor, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Geum, Spiraea alba, Pycnanthemum virginicum, Veronicastrum virginicum, Echinocystis lobata Campanula aparinoides ssp. grandiflora, artemisia serrata (NE-most natural station for the species), Aster simplex, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Helianthus giganteus, and Solidago giganteus, Geum laciniatum.
