Habitat: Dry sand, NW-facing slope in semi-shade; scrubby Quercus velutina savannah, w/ Equisetum huemale, Carex pensylvanica, Equisetum laevigatum, Arabis lyrata. Scattered tufts forming colony rhizomes. Add. field notes for C&Class 7123: Smilacina racemosa, Amorpha canescens, Asclepias syriaca, Galium boreale, Aster azureus, Monarda fistulosa, Gaylussacia baccata (rare). The sedge is undoubtedly slowly invading from the adjacent extensive fen at base of slope. Plant bright yellowish-green.
