Habitat: Sand barrens (i.e., open, xeric habitat supporting prairie-like vegetation) with a small blowout with a single plant of Opuntia compressa var. macrorhiza. Andropogon scoparius the aspect dominant, with Carex muhlenbergii, Cenchrus longispinus, Cyperus lupulinus ssp. macilentus, ground lichens, Bulbostylis capillaris, Lespedeza capitata, Polygala polygama, Asclepias amplexicaulis, A. viridiflora, Physalis virginiana var. virginiana, Linaria canadensis, and Aster linariifolius.
