Habitat:
On edge of moist woods. Moist clay soil, 50-60% shade. Also sparsely established in nearby woods.Overstory of young Acer saccharum, Fraxinus americana, Betula papyrifera, Tsuga canadensis, and Abies balsamea saplings. Ground layer includes Rubus strigosus, Poa pratensis, Aster lateriflorus, Glyceria striata, Osmunda claytonii, and Adiantum pedatum. Large, multi-stemmed shrub, occupying roughly 2 X 3 m.
