Habitat:
Medium-good stand of dry prairie on 5-acre outcrop of St. Peter Sandstone rising 40-50ft above surrounding terrain. Exposed small cliffs and ledges and sandy slopes at base and sides. Sellaginella rupestris, Talinum rugospermum, Aronia melanocarpa, Potentilla arguta, Prunus pumila, Tephrosia virginiana, Hypericum gentianodes, Hedeoma hispidum, Artemisia campestris ssp. caudata, Gnaphalium obtusifolioum. Low, richly branched, decumbent shrub.
