Habitat: Bank of ditch (old dredge spoils from artificial outlet stream) cutting through a large diverse open fen; assoc.: Bromus ciliatus, Cirsium muticum, Cladium mariscoides, Pentaphylloides floribunda, Pycnanthemum virginianum, and Solidago riddellii. BER2004. Lf.-blades minutely scabrous abaxially, but ligules on the short side (3.1--3.8 mm); palea length (1.9--2.2 mm) and callus-hair length (1.5--2.4 mm) indecisive for separation from ssp. stricta.
