Habitat: Marshy lowland pasture along base of Cambrian sandstone cliffs, floodplain of river, with Symplocarpus foetidus, Eupatorium perfoliatum. Tree 10 m. tall, 20 cm. in diameter, with two other smaller trunks from base. Twigs of this year pale brown; buds black.
