Habitat: Deciduous woods and thickets of several kinds, usually dry but occasionally with moist spots or stands, on rocky hillsides and summit. Pinus strobus-Quercus borealis-Acer rubrum woods, with Danthonia spicata, Lysimachia quadrifolia, Gaultheria procumbens, Vaccinium angustifolium, and Aster macrophyllus. Very near summit.
