Habitat:
Southern dry-mesic forest (Acer rubrum- 1 dominant, Quercus borealis- 2 dominant, Acet saccharum- 3 dominant); associated for the abundant Viburnum acerif.: Botrychium virginianum, Desmodium glutinosum, Amphicarpa bracteata, Osmorhiza claytonii, Circaea quadrisulcata, Carya cordiformis seedlings. This plant was firmly tip-rooted, one of its branches perhaps bent over by a fallen limb at one time. (In out yard Viburnum rhytidophyllum and V. trilobum cs. "Alfredo" root readily at the nodes on lower branches but not at the tips.)
