Habitat: Dense rich mesic prairie on huge outwash sand plain (lowest terrace); Andropogon gerardii (1 dominant)-Panicum virgatum (2 dominant), w/ Agrostis gigantea, Allium canadense, Anemone canadensis, Artemisia ludoviciana, Lycopus americanus, Elymus virginicus, Rosa blanda, Prunus pumila, Tradescantia ohiensis, and Veronicastrum virginicum. Relatively high flat ground. Plant 1 = 9--12 dm tall, 10-stemmed from base, 6 stems fertile, 4 smaller ones sterile; plant 2 = 28-stemmed from base, all but one of these fertile, each fertile stem with 2 or 3 branches distally below the inflorescence.
