Habitat: Dense rich mesic prairie on huge sand plain (lowest outwash terrace); Andropogon gerardii-dominant, with Artemisia ludoviciana, Baptisia alba var. macrophylla, Juncus interior, Lycopus americanus, Potentilla simplex, Verbena hastata, Rosa blanda, and Veronicastrum virginicum. Near old hay barn foundation. [Better treated as Carex annectens.]
