Habitat: Wet to saturated, sandy-peaty swale in full sun. Assoc.: Aletris farinosa, Alnus incana ssp. rugosa-seedlings, Carex buxbaumii, Carex stricta-dominant (not forming tussocks), Drosera rotundifolia, Eriophorum angustifolium, Lycopodium inundatum, Lycopus uniflorus, Rhynchospora alba, Rubus hispidus complex, Scleria triglomerata, Spiraea alba, Toxicodendron vernix, and Xyris torta. Soil: shallow peat over Plainfield Sand (surface layer grayish-brown very fine loose sand, subsoil loose porous fine sand).
