Habitat: Slope of old channel in middle of tall-grass prairie, a transition zone (with Carex vesicaria, Pilea pumila) between wet swale (filled with Typha latifolia) and dry-mesic prairie on swell (with Schizachyrium scoparium, Sporobolus heterolepis, etc.). Area embodied within extensive lowland prairie (900 acres) on huge outwash sand terrace along the Wisconsin River.
