Habitat:
Part of gorgeous, undisturbed 13-acre fen, meadow toward upland (railroad) edge, not necessarily drier. Along rivulet; Phalaris arundinacea (little), Carex comosa, Agrostis gigantea, Poa palustris, Iris virginica var. shrevei, Salix spp., Ribes hirtellum var. hirtellum, Galium asprellum , Aster firmus, A. lanceolatus, A. puniceus, and Eupatorium maculatum. Sedge dominance shifts; some quadrats have more C. stricta than C. sterilis, others vice versa. Mid-morning soil temperature : 11.5 C at both 20 cm and 1 m deep.
