Habitat: High, very rocky prairie dominated by Andropogon gerardii, with Allium stellatum, Sorghastrum nutans, Danthonia spicata, Polygonum tenue, Lespedeza capitata, Polygala sanguinea, Comandra umbellata, Oxalis violacea, Lechea intermedia. Also with Quercus ellipsoidalis (rare), Rhus typhina, Prunus viginiana (rare), Oenothera parviflora, Campanula rotundifolia, Helianthemum bicknellii, Apocynum androsaemifolium (local), Amorpha canescens, Coreopsis palmata, Aster azureus, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, var. longipetiolata (very common), Lactuca canadensis var. longifolia (very rare), Liatris aspera (common), Polytrichium.
