Habitat:
In dry sand prairie around sand blows, on bare sand or in Cladonia mats. With Andropogon scoparius, Polygonella articulata, Koeleria macrantha, Polygala polygama.. Scattered. Erect annual herb. Heads on short peduncles which elongate in fruit, then soon withering.
