Habitat: Sandy hillside with the old Quercus alba (?) dying, possibly of oak wilt disease. The hillside therefore somewhat open, with Ulmus spp., Rumex acetosella, Baptisia leaucophaea, Juncus tenuis, Krigia biflora spp. biflora, Tradescatia ohiensis, Cares spp.,grasses, Potentilla simplex, Liatris aspera, Rhus glabra. Flowers yellow. Stem more or less erect.
