Habitat: Marshy edge of town road and long ungrazed marsh with brushy patches of Salix spp., Cornus stolonifera, C. racemosa, with Verbena hastata, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Calamagrostis candensis, Leersia oryzoides, Lactuca canadensis, Pycnanthemum virginianum. The area emitting a foul stench from large amounts of organic sludge being dumped on it. Roots tuberously thickened. Rays and disc yellow.
