Rich Acer saccharum (1dom.)-Fagus grandifolia (2dom.) forest w/ Betula papyrifera & Fraxinus americana (no. coniferous trees); shrubs & saplings (Taxus canadensis, Ostrya virginiana, Prunus virginiana, Fraxinus americana) all infreq.; ground layer assoc. typical for community: Adiantum pedatum (rare), Maianthemum canadense, Trillium grandiflorum, Smilacina racemosa, Habenaria viridis var. bracteata, Caulophyllum thalictroide,Actaea pachypoda (rare), Viola pubescens var. scabriuscula (very common), + several spp. of Carex, all assoc. of one another (C. deweyana (occ.), C. rosea (C. convoluta-freq.)
