Habitat:
Marsh near river, with Salix discolor, Typha latifolia, Caltha palustris, Spiraea alba, Asclepias incarnata, Urtica dioica. Shrub with numerous slender upright stems to 2.5m tall, 2cm. in diameter, from complex base of old branched woody stems to 10cm in diameter, some of the larger stems to 2m long and prostrate in the marsh with slender stems arising from them. Similiar growth form to the nearby male plant (no. 16713). Tips of bracts pink; anthers yellow. Male
