Mixed hardwood forest on E facing slope along river. Surface soil: Miami fine sandy loam, bedrock, Prairie du Chien dolomite. Submesic Acer saccharum-Quercus borealis forest largely confined to steepest portion, with Tilia americana and Fraxinus americana. Field Notes: Old earthslump-caused depression, with Asarum canadense, Hesperis matronalis, ranunculus septentrionalis, Impatiens pallida, Actaea pachypoda, Aster shortii, and Solidago flexicaulis. Berries white; axis of raceme and pedicels red.
