Habitat: Tickets on gravel, sand and muck on shrubby roadsides, along drainage ditch. Assoc. species Betula glandulifera, B. x sandbergii (B. glandulifera X B. papyrifera - a single 2 m shrub), Hypericum kalmianum, Spiraea tomentosa, Calopogon pulchellus, Vaccinium macrocarpon.
