Habitat:
Brushy pasture on SE-facing slopes, being invaded by Xanthoxylum americanum, Ulmus americana, Ostrya virginiana, Carya cordiformis. Tree 14m tall, 20cm in diameter; this species forming a grove; wood white; upper stem and branches smooth, yellow-green. Fully formed winter buds not gummy. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw 46195.
