Habitat:
Abandoned gravel pit in glacial drift, dry, mostly open with much bare sand and gravel, but some invasion of young Ulmus pumila, Populus deltoides, Lonicera x bella, Morus alba, etc. Quite weedy, with Artemisia caudata, Poa spp., Androsace occidentalis, Holosteum umbellatum (rare), Lithospermum incisum, and much Melilotus. Common tree, 10m tall, 35cm. in diam., most are smaller.
