Habitat:
In dry prairie, not found at parking lot nor corn field. Generally at the edges of the prairie, near Corylus or aspen, so not in full sun for the entire day. Common. A pretty prairie rose. A low woody herb. Flowers one to four per plant. Corolla bright magenta. Stamens chestnut red.
