Habitat: Extensive lowland prairie on huge outwash sand terrace along river. Dry-mesic segments dominated by Andropogon scoparius, Sporobolus heterolepis, & Koeleria macrantha (on low swells) grading wet segments dominated by Andropogon gerardii, Panicum virgatum, & Spartina pectinata (in shallow swales), the Rosa in dry-mesic prairie, with Elymus virginicus, E. canadensis, Prunus pumila, Solidago canadensis, S. gigantea, Artemisia ludoviciana, Aster ericoides. In deep loose loamy sand near and at Wisconsin River. Shrubs, mostly 7.3 to 10.1dm tall; mature hypanthia red (few plants) to usually orange-red. Sheet 2 of 4.
