Habitat:
Edge of E-facing cliff. Mostly E facing Cambrian sandstone cliffs along creek. More or less edge of following 2 habitats. a) With Pinus strobus along top of cliffs; the cool shaded N and E facing cliffs often with patches of Bryoxiphium norvegicum, Sullivantia renifolia. b) Now ungrazed sandy grassy unshaded point above sandstone cliffs. Poa compressa, Andropogon scoparius, Hieracium longipilum, Plantago aristata, Polygonum tenue. Several shrubs to 4 m. tall.
