Habitat: In partial shade at edges of Quercus woods, in rich moist soil. Common. Tall, erect to reclining herb, slender and fewer leaved in shade. Leaves simple upper to 5 foliate lower. Flowers with white corollas, chestnut stamens. Fruit on densly wooly receptacle. Calyx reflexed.
